Rooted in Butterflies, Culture, and Family

Hi, I’m Angelica Vera, the founder of Biology and Butterflies LLC. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about who we are and the passion behind our work.

If Mother Nature could take the form of a person, she would be my grandmother, Benita. With the greenest thumb of all, she could turn the simplest patch of earth into a thriving garden, filled with life, color, and beauty.

I grew up watching her hands work magic in the soil, teaching me that plants are more than just decorations—they are homes, food, and lifelines for butterflies, bees, and all the little creatures we often overlook.

My family comes from Michoacán, Mexico, a place where the monarch butterflies migrate every year, painting the sky orange as they return home. Just like the monarchs, my grandmother migrated—bringing her love of the land, her wisdom, and her deep respect for nature with her. She planted not just gardens, but also a legacy, passing down a passion for nurturing both plants and people.

It was through her that I fell in love with butterflies, gardening, and the incredible connection between nature and culture.

Now, as the founder of Biology and Butterflies, I share that love with children—teaching them that nature is their greatest classroom and that even the smallest hands can make a difference in the world.

🦋 Welcome to Biology and Butterflies. I hope you find as much wonder, joy, and transformation here as I have.
