Our Roots
Rooted in Butterflies, Culture, and Family
Hi, I’m Angelica Vera, the founder of Biology and Butterflies LLC. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about who we are and the passion behind our work.
If Mother Nature could take the form of a person, she would be my grandmother, Benita. With the greenest thumb of all, she could turn the simplest patch of earth into a thriving garden—filled with life, color, and beauty.
I grew up watching her hands work magic in the soil, teaching me that plants are more than just decorations—they are homes, food, and lifelines for butterflies, bees, and all the little creatures we often overlook.
My family comes from Michoacán, Mexico, a place where the monarch butterflies migrate every year, painting the sky orange as they return home. Just like the monarchs, my grandmother migrated—bringing her love of the land, her wisdom, and her deep respect for nature with her. She planted not just gardens, but a legacy—passing down a passion for nurturing both plants and people.
It was through her that I fell in love with butterflies, gardening, and the incredible connection between nature and culture.
What This Is Really About
Biology and Butterflies is more than a program—it’s a way to slow down and reconnect.
It’s about giving kids the chance to dig, touch, observe, and wonder. It’s about letting them feel proud when a seed they planted starts to sprout, or when they gently hold a caterpillar and realize it’s alive in their hands.
It’s about families coming together outside—laughing, learning, growing something real.
The kind of bonding that doesn’t need screens or schedules—just time, nature, and care.
Yes, there’s science. But behind the science, there’s purpose.
There’s healing. There’s calm. There’s joy.
There’s a reminder that we belong to something bigger—and that when we take care of the Earth, it takes care of us too.
This is about connection.
To the Earth. To each other. To the moment you’re in.
And that’s what makes it so powerful.
Why I Do This
I’ve loved butterflies for as long as I can remember.
Not in a hobby kind of way—but in the “I feel it in my heart” kind of way. When I see one, I stop. I’m in awe. The stillness, the wonder—I start to notice where it’s going, what it’s doing, what kind it is, and how its colors move in the light. I feel one with it—as if I’m the butterfly myself.
It’s hard to explain, but it’s always been there.
That quiet connection. The admiration. The pull toward something beautiful and alive.
I didn’t plan to teach about butterflies.
I just shared what I loved. And over time, that love turned into something more—an emotional connection, a calling, and a business rooted in purpose.
Still Growing
I’m still learning and transforming—just like the butterflies I teach about.
Every season, every program, and every child reminds me why I do this. To share what I love. To give back. And to help the next generation fall in love with the Earth, just like I did.
🦋 Welcome to Biology and Butterflies.
I hope you find as much wonder, joy, and transformation here as I have.
